I know I have stated this before but…. I love what I do… It makes me happy!

Happiness is important to life and we all know that happiness has positive effects on life. It affects our health and longevity, our personal relationships, our creativity and work. I truly believe that my happiness is poured into the words I write, the product I help to design and in my attitude toward the work I do.

Maya Angelou has written many powerful words in her lifetime. She believes in the power of both the written and the spoken word, and says the entire world could benefit simply from every person learning to use words to educate, empower and encourage those around them.

I encourage you to share your happiness with others in word and deed. A smile can brighten someone’s day, a word of encouragement can lift a soul, an extended hand can pull another up…  If we would make the effort to share our happiness with others each day… just imagine the possibilities.

I praise God for all my many blessings… a happy heart is just one of them.  A happy heart makes the face cheerful. Proverbs 13:13

Words of Wisdom: No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn.

A Heartfelt Word

What a difficult winter most of us have faced in 2014. Valentine sales were profoundly affected by the winter weather, per my dear friends in the retail arena. The news was full of stories, across the country, of the frigid cold, ice, snow, and flooding. It is our prayer that spring will come soon, that retailers will be able to make up lost ground and that the economy will hopefully and finally improve.

We are constantly reminded how often things out of our control can affect our daily lives. All our best laid plans are meaningless in the wake of Mother Nature. The good news is that Heartfelt has an abundance of exciting new offerings that will sell year round and we are excited for the possibilities that spring will bring.

I recently saw on Facebook a letter written by a father to his 4 year old daughter about beauty. One of his points was about the power of words in our society. To his point, words have power in the aisle of a Target store and his words yielded power to the thousands of people who read his letter. His insight was extremely profound and I know his words will make a difference to his daughter someday. Words spoken or shared which come from our hearts have more power than we realize, which is why the words I write for Heartfelt mean so much to me. I know their power, I have experienced that power and I yearn deeply to share my heartfelt words with others.

Being authentic is so very important to me. I am authentic in sharing my heart in each blog. I recently read in an Advertising Magazine this statement “True social success is based on how much the entirety of your customer experience inspires people to recommend your company and buy your products.” How true! Also that, “Being authentic is an honest assessment of what your brand stands for. It requires you to deliver a consistent and compelling identity.”

Spring 2014 New Product Releases

LoveLea Lines are filled with life… living them, expressing them, and more importantly… sharing them with others. This design concept artfully promotes metallic elements and rich earthy colors with creative design and traditional style while keeping a focus on fresh and feminine. This collection was written and inspired by Lea Metts. Graceful Garden 4x4 Collection by artist, Sandy Clough features beautiful artwork under glass which is distinctive and will have a wide appeal with its fantastic price point.

The Heart of Heartfelt

It is with great excitement and nervous anxiousness that I look toward the upcoming gift shows. For the first time, in my almost 30 years, my work is actually being promoted and branded with my name. I must point out that this began with the grace and belief of Christian Brands in my work and I am deeply humbled with this opportunity.

We are so thankful for the many customers and friends we have made over the past 30 years. We realize that we have been greatly blessed when a customer has purchased the Heartfelt product and placed our product in their stores. There are so many choices, in our wonderful gift industry, that the retailer has to choose from and we never take a customer for granted. Thankfulness is not some sort of magic formula; it is a language of LOVE. We love our customers and deeply appreciate them.

The Heart of Heartfelt

For many years, before we sold our company, I would cook lunch for our employees the week of Thanksgiving. It was my hope to express my thanks by personally showing, through this act, my deep gratitude for each and everyone that worked for us.  Cooking for 75-100 people is a bit of an undertaking, but I loved doing it. It wasn’t much but I needed a way to give back to them in a service toward them.

Two years ago, when we sold the company and the first Thanksgiving came around, I remember being sad and missing those wonderful, delightful friends and I actually yearned to cook for two days, for them all again. There is a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that reads like this:  “Many people walk in and out of your life, but only true friends leave footprints in your heart”. Our employees left their footprints in our hearts that will always remain.
I am so blessed today to work with my new Heartfelt family… Wonderful, creative and talented people who now also have a special place in my heart. The heart of Heartfelt has always been the beating of many hearts… always has, always will!

It is very exciting to see a design concept come to life in a product. The creative juices flow in the minds-eye and usually what starts as one idea can develop into the very image you imagined or it can be brainstormed into something entirely different and better. Either way, the journey, adventure and pleasure in achieving the end result is, almost always, quite rewarding.

Recently, I fulfilled an item on my bucket list… which was to take my grandchildren on a Disney vacation. It was a wonderful experience, one that we will all cherish and remember. As we were leaving, my seven year old granddaughter wrote me this note:

Sharing our hearts in word is such a strong and powerful thing. Her written thanks meant the world to me, as well as, all their hugs and kisses. I encourage you to share your heart in a written word as often as you can… it can mean so much!
